Leafy Decor

This card I have done for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today, of which I am hosting. The site I have picked for our inspiration this week is Rug Savings.

And the rug I picked for inspiration can be seen here.

I wanted to keep the colours light so I started with smooshing on my card front (Neenah 120lb) using Twisted Citron Oxide ink. The ink is diluted with water, which gives almost a yellow colour. Once the piece was dry I added splatters using Mowed Lawn Oxide.

In my mini Misti I stamped the Leafy Decor using London Fog ink by Memento. I kept the light grey colour for the stems as I did not want a darker colour, say a green due to the blue and teal colours.

Using Copic markers I began to colour the leaves, starting with the larger green leaves in the middle and working out with the other colours. Starting with YG23, YG61 and YG63, moving to B21, B23 and B24 for the blue leaves. Y13 and G43 for the leaves above the centre. The little flowers are done using BV01. The teal leaves BG11, BG23 and BG32. Above the Yellow Green I used G14, then on the very tiny leaves G05, an Emerald colour.

I then cut the piece out using my Scan'n Cut as I don't have the die as of yet.

Moving on and using my Gemini Jr. I die cut 2 of the Geometric Circles and glued them together using Nuvo adhesive. I attached the circles die using foam squares hidden under the Leafy Decor die, along with Nuvo adhesive to keep everything in place.

Using the Impression Obsession hugs die I cut 2 pieces from the Neenah cardstock and glued them together using the Nuvo adhesive, then coloured using Copic G05 and gluing to the circles frame.

Finishing up I added a bit of Midas Touch  for a bit of sparkle to the middle leaves and the teal leaves along with a variety of sequins and gems.

It was really fun to colour this stamp of leaves. A nice change.

  1. What serene, grounding, and entirely lovely colours. They instantly convey tranquility - which, goodness knows, most of us need by the truckload these days.
