Season's Greetings

Saturday, 30 September 2017

Snowflakes are in the air for this card today.

I wanted a somewhat mystical background and I think I achieved that by doing a stencil mono-print pattern for my card panel using Paper Artsy Infusions. I let it run in the top middle a bit to get the solid colour, but kept the rest in the lighter texture look (less water). Once dry, in my Misti, I stamped on my sentiment using black ink and die cut my panel with the stitched rectangles.

For the snowflake, I originally die cut the snowflake in white glitter paper, but I much prefer the silver glitter paper snowflake. That is okay, I am sure to use the white one soon. I attached the snowflake with glossy accents in the centre. It does not show in the picture, but the snowflake appears to have movement as the outer flakes are left loose.

I attached the panel to white fun foam, then attached to my card base, which is in a darker purple. To finish, I added a few sequins in the colours from the ink, along with a purple gem on the large white sequin.

I appreciate your visit today ...

Tissue meets Ink Powders

Tuesday, 26 September 2017

I am up on My Sweet Petunia's blog today showcasing these cards that I made utilizing tissue paper and ink powders and my Original Misti. Such fun I had preparing for this post. For these cards I used Paper Artsy Infusions and Bister Powders. These powders are a water soluble stain which have dye colour pigments mixed with walnut stain ... seriously luscious.
The leaf on the card above right is a perfect example of the walnut stain. I made a video doing this card, and the leaf shows better in the video, which is below.

I hope you enjoy the cards as well as the video. Thanks so much for visiting.

The inspiration for this technique came from Loll Thompson. You can find Loll's video called Tissue Paper Watercolour and Techniques here.

Now, on to the card I made. I used my Mini MISTI for my card today, and the new Bar Magnets, which are very strong. (I cannot wait to find out where they will hide themselves at some point in the future!) I am using the 3 step Autumn Squirrel stamp set for my card today. I started out by arranging and stamping the leaves around the top of my card in various distress inks.
I am continuing to add the layers to the leaves using gathered twigs distress ink. Once finished I die cut using my stitched rectangles, and die cut the circle once I knew the placement of the squirrel on the card base, and added foam strips to the panel, which will be attached to the card base.
For the squirrel, I used 2 of the 3 step squirrels as I wanted the base to remain in the white. My squirrel is stamped in copper for the first step and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then stamped in red, and heat embossed again to ensure the red was dry. The colours show up wonderfully in real life! I added a little acorn for the squirrel, and stamped the "oh nuts" sentiment, also in the red.
A close up of my card. The squirrel is stamped on my card base, and the top layer is added on foam strips, with the squirrel showing through the deckled circle.
To finish my card, I added a few autumn coloured sequins.

You should have arrived here from Lydia's blog. If not, you will want to start at the beginning of the hop at Maria's blog.

Oops, sorry you're hurt, is a card I did for Frantic Stamper and failed to upload. I love the band-aide, very simple but effective. The background paper I have had in my stash for years, so it was nice to be able to use it for this card. The band-aide is on foam strips and die cut from cardstock, with acetate in the centre along with the die cut heart. I stamped the sentiment in black and added a few sequins to finish. A great card to have in my stash ready for the time that I will need it.
Thanks for having a look today.

Mug hugs

Sunday, 17 September 2017

I could not make up my mind on the colour for my mug, so I did a bunch of colours!

I first stamped and heat embossed the mug using white embossing powder, then die cut the piece with the wonky dies. I then proceeded with the water colouring using Tim Holtz Distress Inks adding layers of colour until I was happy. Once dry I splattered with more inks and an acrylic black ink, then attached to my aqua base. For my sentiment, I die cut the hugs using white fun foam, then coloured only the top with a glitter marker, leaving the sides white. It has the appearance that it is floating, which I like. And, being me, I added a few metallic sequins to finish.

Thanks for dropping by today ....

Christmas Wonder

Saturday, 16 September 2017

This is Christmas Wonder, and the first time I have inked up this new to me stamp, which I really love called Cones and Berries by Penny Black. I started this card by first doing a watercolour wash using Daniel Smith watercolours in Manganese Blue and Cobalt Violet. To stamp the image, I coloured first with the browns, then the red and green colours using Tim Holtz Distress Markers. I added some White Gel Pen to the pine cone as well as scattered on the card. To finish I die cut my piece with the scalloped stitch trimming die and added a few small sequins.

Autumn Plaid

Sunday, 10 September 2017

Autumn is the perfect time for plaid, don't you think? I sure am enjoying this cooler weather, and I am very much enjoying making Autumn cards.

I began this card by stamping the plaid background in my Misti. As it turned out it did not need another stamping, how unusual is that? I wanted it on the lighter side as I was using the darker base. I then die cut the plaid with my wonky die set. Next, I stamped the stamp using pigment chestnut ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder, adding colour with my water colours. The Autumn sentiment is die cut three times and stacked for more dimension, and attached on the panel that is then attached to the plaid on foam tape. And, yes, a few sequins to finish.

Thanks so much for visiting today.

Colours of Autumn

Saturday, 9 September 2017

Autumn is by far my favourite time of the year. I love the cooler daytime temperatures with that touch of crispness in the air, and the nights are glorious.

This card represents the beauty that comes our way with autumn weather. I love it when the leaves turn and show off, which is what I tried to represent here.
I heat embossed the leaves with white embossing powder before water colouring with distress inks. Once it was dry I sponged the edges and flicked on a burlap acrylic ink, I did not want black, I wanted a change from it, so burlap it was. For the sentiment I stamped in Colorbox Chestnut ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder on vellum before attaching to my card panel. The panel was then attached to my base on foam strips and I scattered a few sequins in fall colours to finish.

Thank you for visiting today ... see you next time.

Christmas is just around the corner and I like getting a jump on my cards for the season. This card was also done for the Christmas is Here at Frantic Stamper.

For this card, I started by stamping and heat embossing in silver on my card base with the Starry Night Background stamp. I then sponged on Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass. For my bottom panel I die cut using the Lovely Loop Edge die. I then die cut the adorable Sweet Holly Penguin which I coloured with Zig Brushes and attached using foam dots. I added the Believe sentiment die cut in silver glitter cardstock along with a few sequins to finish my card.

My Sweet Petunia and Right at Home Swap

Welcome everyone to today's blog hop from the design teams of My Sweet Petunia (MISTI) and Right at Home Stamps.
We are happy to have you join us.
We have some beautiful cards to share and prizes too.
There will be a draw of two winners from all the comments on the hop, so please leave a comment on every blog to be eligible. From My Sweet Petunia, winner's choice of an original or mini MISTI, and from Right at Home a prize package consisting of the Sunflower stamp set, Harvest Blessings stamp set (new release) and two Distress Oxide Inks - in Cracked Pistachio and Peeled Paint.

The deadline for your comments is September 8th, noon Central time, and the winners will be posted on the My Sweet Petunia and Right at Home blogs on Tuesday, September 12th.

Today I have two cards to share with you, and a video showing the Trio of Trees and Snowman Trio, both made using my MISTI and the Christmas Critters Stamp Set.

First up is the Snowman Trio.
In my mini Misti, I stamped the snowman 3 times, the hat in different colours, and fussy cut all the pieces. I then attached the nose, mouth and eyes to my Misti lid and moved the snowman into place to stamp each. Up next, I added the scarf to the snowmen in the different colours, and coloured in using markers. I sponged some colour to each of the snowman as well as the hats. The panel was die cut using the stitched arch die and embossed with the snow drops embossing folder along with the arch die cut. I sponged on some tumbled glass to the inside of the arch, and attached the middle snowman with glue and the outside snowmen are attached on foam strips. I drew in the stick arms for the snowmen. The top panel is also attached with foam strips. In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment, cutting and rounding the top corners to mimic the arch. A few sequins and Nuvo Jewel Drops finished my card.
Here is a close-up of my card.

My second card is the Trio of Trees.
Along with a close-up,
and the video showing the details of this card.

Following is the list with links of those participating in today's hop. You should have arrived here from Amy Kolling's blog, and next on the hop is Laurie Schmidlin.

Christmas Stars

Sunday, 3 September 2017

I did this card for Frantic Stamper's latest Christmas release. I love this dangling star die, so I did another card using a different sentiment and colours.

I die cut the panel then coloured the stars using Martha Stewart Glitter Markers. I use the negative from the panel to line up where the stars should go, then glue them to my card base. I stamp the sentiment, then use foam tape on the back to lift the panel from the base. A few sequins complete my card. I very much like the look, and hope you do as well.

I have a short video showing how I do this, which follows.
