Wildflower Stems

This is "Wildflower Stems".

For some reason I when in bed last night I started to think about what I had in Tim Holtz dies, as it has been some time since I have used anything by him.

For some reason I had this die in mind, but I was not sure I had it. What can I say, I am in bed and should be going to sleep!

In any event first thing this morning I looked for the die and that is when I decided I would make this card.

The desinger paper in the background I have had for years and years, and today was the day to use it. I put together my Neenah cardbase, then added the designer paper in the black and then Hammermill cardstock.

I die cut three (3) of the floral stems in Black Onyx cardstock and glued the pieces together, then put the layers together.

I attached the flower die using foam strips for dimension and keeping the flower on an angle as it is very long and I have it at the very bottom of my card.

In my Misti I stamped the sentiment to the card front, using the flower to decide on placement. I then added the sheet for the inside of the card and stamped that sentiment as well.

For stamping I used VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne for both sentiments which are by Penny Black and called "Strength".

Thank you for joining me today. I do hope you enjoyed this look back.

See you next time.

  1. There’s something especially satisfying about rediscovering a favorite die in the quiet of night and bringing it to life the next morning. The layered black floral stems lend such striking drama against that vintage designer paper—what a gorgeous contrast. I love how you used angled placement and foam strips to give the die cut elegant dimension and movement. It feels like a tribute to both past treasures and present inspiration.
