Songs

This is "Songs".

I was gifted these dies and straight away sat down to make a card. You all know me, anything having to do with birds is my "thing".

As I had watercolour paper on my desk so I decided I would water colour the birds, which I did using different colours for each bird.

My water colours for these birds are a mix of Daniel Smith along with Schmincke water colours. I used Daniel Smith Ultramarine Violet, Opera Pink, Rhodonite Genuine, Spring Green, Sap Green. Cerulan Blue, Manganese Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Red and Pyrrol Scarlet.

Once I had the birds painted I set them aside to dry and using another piece of water colour paper I added splatters using all the colours that I had used for the birds.

I painted the wire using Payne's Grey doing the front and back as it was easier rather than worrying I did not cover it all.

Once I finished with the painting and once all was dry I attached the splattered water colour piece to a Black Onyx card base.

I then added black mini rhinestones to the birds eyes, which added even more dimension. The beaks are also painted using the Payne's Grey.

I finished with stamping the sentiment on the inside of the card using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. As you can imagine I enjoyed myself doing this card, and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Thank you for dropping by.

See you next time.

  1. The joyful energy in these birds is infectious—each one feels like it has its own little personality, brought to life through that gorgeous mix of Daniel Smith and Schmincke hues. The Payne’s Grey detailing on the wire and beaks adds just the right depth, while the splattered background ties everything together with playful harmony. I love how you leaned into your bird-loving spirit with this card; it sings with creativity and heart.
