Popin Jay

Meet "Popin Jay".

He has me giggling I admit! I have done this card for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com, where this week we are visiting Playing Card Decks.com. My inspiration came from this set of playing cards.
Today I am using Bird Crazy stamp set and Bird Things. I stamped my bird using Memento Ink in Gray Flannel as I do not have a blue ink. Needless to say I need to remedy that.

I then coloured the bird over using Copic markers in B28 and did the smaller areas using my Sharpie pens in virtually the same colour. I drew in the vest and coloured using R24 and R29, with B28 dots on the vest.
Coloured the top of the bird using B00, and R000 behind the bow tie area. The Bow tie is done in R24 and R29 and his bill is in C5 and C7.

For my background I added a stencil to watercolour paper and applied Lumberjack Plaid to the top of the stencil, then wiped it off and over the open areas using a baby wipe and spritzed with water. I then spritzed with Perfect Pearls in Gold.
I wanted just the floral to show from the stencil, so I fussy cut the piece. Using Neenah card I embossed using Sizzix Delicate Leaves embossing folder and attached it to my red card base. I then glued the stenciled flowers on the left side and added foam squares on the right side.

Die cut the "hey" die x 3, and coloured the top piece using Copic B28, leaving the other two white and gluing together.
To finish off my card I added a few Pinkfresh gems in Ruby.

Thank you for joining me today. Just to let you all know, I have decided to opt out of Linkdeli going forward, so I will no longer display Affiliate links.

Thank you all for your support over the years, it was fun while it lasted. But it did take a while to do as well, so now I am saving some time in posting my cards.

  1. This blue jay is so dapper, Kia. I totally understand not linking everything; that has to give you more creative time and less time spent on the blog. Happy early Easter!
