Cone Flowers

It is time for Watercolour Wednesday and this week we are watching this video as she paints abstract loose Cone Flowers. I love love this method of watercolouring, and would actually prefer all my time be spent on this style.

I found a line drawing which I printed and traced for my flowers. I cannot draw worth a darn!
I lightly did the sketch, then proceeded to add the colours using Daniel Smith, Winsor Newton and Schmincke  watercolours. Daniel Smith in Cadmium Yellow, Indian Yellow on flowers. Winsor Newton Sap Green on stemsm with Schmincke May green underneath.

The Cones are done using Schmincke Transparent Orange, Winsor Newton Orange/Red and Daniel Smith English Venetian Red.
Brought in some of the May greens and transparent oranges then did splatters using the same.

Once everythign was dry I added in the black using a Micron Pen, doing so roughly.
To finish up I added in some Phthalo Turquoise in a few areas between the flowers.

I added foam tape to the back of the Arches Cold Press watercolour paper and attached it to a Gina K Designs Coral card base.

I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it. Thanks so much for dropping by today. See you next time.
