Mushroom Whimsy

It is almost almost time for this post to go live, so best I write it up!

Time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.com. This week we are painting a whimsical mushroom. I fell in love with this mushroom and decided early that I wanted a larger painting of it. But first I would do a card, and get a feel for the piece. In my living room I have a wall where I hang my art. It is a large wall, so room for a lot of paintings. I think this would be so cute up there.

I did not pay much attention to what colours she used, but I did keep close to the colours as that is what attracted me to this painting. For my card I used Da Vinci Leaf Green, Schmincke Cobalt Turquoise, Prussian Blue, Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), and Sap Green. For the white I used Dr. Ph Martin's Bleedproof White.
I used the Leaf Green and Sap Green in the grass, as well as in the splatters, along with the Turquoise. Using Dr. Ph Martin's white I highlighted the mushroom cap and stem, along with the details on the underside.

Needless to say I love this mushroom and cannot wait to paint up a larger piece.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it, and I hope you are inspired to try water colouring yourself.
