My Sweet Friend

As a card maker I have visions daily about card design. But this card design came about in a dream! I think I have a problem, don't you? lol

My dream I think came about from a piece of Neenah card that I had die cut using a circle die and was still sitting on my desk. So when I sat at my desk the next day I remembered the dream.
In the dream the circle looked like the moon - seriously! So I decided to 3D emboss the circle to get that look. I did not have the florals in the dream, that came from reality. I pondered how I could do something a bit different and decided I wanted to wrap the flower along the edge of the circle.

What better stamp to use for this than the Impression Obsession Anemone set. I picked the 2nd sized Anemone as the flower was facing the way I wanted.
Using my original Misti, I stamped the flower using fade away ink then proceeded to watercolour using Daniel Smith watercolours.

I rarely do blue flowers, and decided this flower needed to be blue so I painted using only two colours, being Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) for the flower and Green Apatite Genuine for the leaves.
Once I was done painting and the piece was dry I fussy cut the flower then using my stylist started to form the shape, checking it with the circle as I went.

I then attached the circle cut to my card base using foam tape. I added the flower where I wanted it using a large foam square to attach, then glued in place the stem around the circle.
I added splatters using the blue watercolour as on the card, then added glitter gloss to the flower centre, which is so hard to capture in a photograph.

I die cut the sentiment and painted using the same blue, then stamped the "my sweet" using VersaFine Clair ink. I glued the "friend" in place, then die cut the "my sweet" and attached it with smaller foam squares to finish.

This was a different and fun card to make. I hope I have more dreams like this one!

  1. Beautiful sweet card for your sweet friend, Kia. TFS all your details. I love how you used a 3D image on your circle and your loose watercolored Gorgeous die cut flower. The splatters were a nice touch too. Wonderful inspiration from your dream...how fun! Love and Hugs...Nancy
