Its Winter

It is always fun to sit at my desk and stare out the window, as I always find inspiration that way. When I was making this card it was snowing and I mean snowing! We ended up the next morning with a lot of the beautiful white sparkly fluffy stuff.

And that is how this card came about, made for Day 20 of the Scrap'n Stamp Random Act of Cardness challenges, which is "SNOW", duly marked on my reminder below.

This card started with a piece of Tonic watercolour card, Distress Oxide ink in Speckled Egg and some water. I put down some ink on my work surface and spritzed with water, then pounced the card in the ink, drying between each go. I did this several times, to build the layers, then on the final addition I spritzed with a mixture of Perfect Pearls and water instead, to add shimmer to the card and dried the piece.

Once completely dry, with my finger I rubbed on the Stickles Glitter Gel. I find it easier with my finger as the stars stick to the palette knife and end up all in the same place, whereas with my fingers I can move the stars around. I then set the piece aside to dry.

From another piece of the Tonic card, I die cut a bunch of the snowflakes. But first, using my Lawn Fawn stencil I added stencilled snowflakes with white texture paste randomly around the card. Then using the negative left from the die cutting, and using as a stencil, I added more texture paste with my finger so as to not damage the delicate pieces of the snowflakes.

The texture paste dried very quickly, which is great. As I would be adding gems etc. I then attached the piece to my card base of gold mirror card using foam tape.

I then began to glue in the die cut snowflakes. For the larger and last two snowflakes I added them using foam squares, then painted them with a good layer of Nuvo Shimmering Pen in Midas Touch. I squeezed out some of the shimmer to my work surface and with a paint brush I splattered the card a lot with the mixture. In real life it is so pretty.

To finish up I added gems to a few of the snowflakes as well as around the card, which added more shimmer. I think it has made a beautiful winter card to send to a friend, don't you?
