Petal Hey

I am back with you today to share the card I did for our Watercolour Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers today. We are doing Tissue Paper Watercolouring.

There are a few ways to do this technique, and they are shown in the video done by Loll Thompson at Splitcoaststampers. For my card I did all of the technique, including the embossing. I think it adds a lot to the card.

To start I did two colour combinations using Ken Oliver Color Burst Powders. The first was to use Ultramarine Blue, Turquoise and Chartreuse, and the second was Lime Green, Phthalo Green and Chartreuse.

I use a box and line it with Parchment Paper. I then add the piece of white tissue cut larger than I need. When using powders I first spritz the tissue paper, then add the powders and spritz more as needed, but only if needed.

I lift out the tissue carefully and place it on a piece of cardstock cut to fit the tissue and press the tissue in place to help transfer the colour. It takes only a moment to transfer all the colour, I then lift the tissue off and set aside the cardstock and tissue to dry. For my tissue I hang it off the side of my table.

Once all is dry, the cardstock I use for the inside of my card, or for a card front.

With the tissue I crunch it up in a ball and carefully unravel it. On a piece of cardstock I apply Nuvo adhesive to the entire card and attach the tissue paper being sure to keep the "crunches" in place. I then tap the tissue with my VersaMark embossing ink, and add the embossing powder in the colour of choice, for this card I used white, and heat set.

I did the same process for the second sheet of tissue that I made, done in the greens, however I die cut the piece with my leaf die. I was surprised at how well it took to the cutting in my Gemini Jr. I glued some of the pieces so they would stay in place in the leaf, then glued it to my card front.

Using Arches Cold Press watercolour paper I then stamped the small flower and stem image from the Penny Black Wings and Vases Set using VersaFine Clair ink, and die cut the pieces out. I decided I did not want any white showing so I proceeded to do some fussy cutting. I wet the flowers and dropped the colour in, using the Pink Lemonade from the Dream in Color Aqua Flow Pen Set. For the leaves I used Fresh Green from the Spring Meadow Aqua Flow Pen Set.

To finish up I die cut the sentiment, once from a piece of the cardstock left from the making of the tissue and cut two pieces from white cardstock, then glued them together with the colour on top, affixing to the card using the Nuvo Adhesive. I then added Midas Touch Shimmering Pen to bits on the die cut leaf and on the flowers.

I hope you have enjoyed this card today and wish to thank you for visiting my blog.
