Christmas in July

Hello all. I am over on the Scrap'n Stamp Blog with these cards today done to celebrate our Christmas in July Random Act of Cardness Challenges.

It is my turn for the challenge and I decided on doing some Gelli Prints. I wanted different backgrounds for my cards so I used non-traditional Christmas colours using Distress Oxide Inks.
There was not much rhyme nor reason to my colour choices, I used colours that I knew looked good together, as in the above card being Wilted Violet and Worn Lipstick. I add the Distress Oxide ink direct to plate then I smooth out with my brayer.

For the card above I attached my gelli print to a piece of 80lb Neenah cardstock, then trimmed to size. I stamped the snowflake using VersaFine Clair Ink in the Paradise and while still damp I heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Around the top edge and right side I sponged on Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet, then added Nuvo Shimmering Pen in Midas Touch. I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Fantasia. I then matted with a very light lavender then a dark purple cardstock and attached same to my Neenah cardbase.

To finish up I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew.

On some I used just one colour. Before applying my ink I would tape the piece of Hammermill paper down, then add my ink to the plate and smooth out with my brayer. If I was going to use a stencil, I would do as above and take the print, leaving the piece of paper in place, then added the stencil and brayer, removing the stencil and smoothing the paper a second time. It would leave the impression with the snowflakes.

If I used two colours, such as in the middle bottom row, I would add the yellow and brayer then take the print, and keeping the paper in place I would put down the stencil and add the second colour, in this case the worn lipstick, then lift the stencil and smooth the paper over my plate again, where it would pick up the pinks left behind.

On a few of the prints I would add a couple of colours, and smooth out with my brayer, then I would add crinkled up Saran Wrap (plastic wrap) and softly push it down into the plate so the impression would be left before removing, then lay my paper and take a print.

The purple card above is done using this method.

As I mentioned above, for this card I used a stencil and yellow and pink distress oxide inks. I then stamped with my huge snowflake stamp from Colorado Crafts, and heat embossed using Rose Quartz Embossing Powder. I too was surprised by the outcome, but I really love it. I stamped the sentiment using Ranger Ink in Red Carnation and added Nuvo Drops to finish.

This is my final card for today. I so wish the Shimmer Pen showed up, but maybe you can imagine it. I stamped the berries using VersaFine Clair Ink in Pinecone, doing 4 passes to ensure all was covered. I then painted over just the berries by adding Baked Cherry from my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pen Set Festive Season. I then went over the cherry with the Nuvo Midas Touch Shimmering Pen. It really looks fabulous.

To frame the background piece I die cut my cardbase using Spellbinders Hemstitch Die.

I did not add a sentiment to the card above, as I am not sure what I will use it for, I think it would make a lovely winter thank you card.
