Wildflower Hi

Today's card I have done for entry to the CAS Stencil Challenge for May 2020, which is "Layered Stenciling".

My card is probably not as CAS as it should be for the challenge, but I have never done layered stenciling before, so this is a bit different for me and I also used Acrylic Paints for my stenciling. I watched this video, and it had me immediately thinking of my Vicki Boutin paints, which I just love for the colours.

On Mixed Media paper I am using A Colorful Life Design stencils. I also dried each layer between paint. To apply the paints I used makeup wedges which I bought at the Dollar Store. They can also be washed out.

My first layer is using the Big Damask stencil with Cotton Candy paint from Set 1. My second layer is the Circle Ring stencil with Orange Slice, also from Set 1. For the 3rd layer I am using Wispy Vines stencil along with Juicy Pear from Set 3. For the 4th and 5th layer I am using the Spring Ring, part one with Blue Hawaiian paint on the flower portions, and part two on the butterfly and flower portions with White paint.

You can see in the above that the background looks more colourful then the final result. By adding the white die frame and the white flower, the colours tone down.

Once the panel was dry I attached it to my card base. I then added the die cut frame in the white and the die cut flower in white cardstock.

In my mini Misti I stamped my sentiment using VersaMark Embossing Ink along with Lindy's Embossing Powder in Midnight Sapphire Obsidian.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this card.

  1. Your layered background is just fantastic, I love how you have used the stencils and the paints in layers, it is so effective. Great use of the frames and the die cut flower too. Lovely finishing touch with the contrast created by the black 'hi' xx

  3. As much as I love the frame, and pretty white lily, Kia I ADORE your stenciling so much I never would have covered it up! lol What a beautiful creation - and with acrylics? I have a feeling you had quite a bit of cleaning to do after! But worth it! xx
