Hello crafty people. I am back with you today to share my post which I have up on the Scrap'n Stamp Blog today.
At Scrap'n Stamp we are continuing with our Random Act of Cardness Challenges. Today is Day 15, which is my turn. It says only Brush on the challenge list, it should say Brush Stroke Stamping. I guess there was not enough room :)
We did our list back in April, but as luck has it Penny Black put out a video on Brush Stroke Stamping a few days ago, and, Jill uses the same stamp I used for my card, thankfully we used different colours.
I am using Tombow Markers for my card, and I also have a different technique from what Jill shows us in her Video. I spritz after each application of ink lightly and I dry between each colour. If I think I need more water I will add it.
1. In my original Misti I arrange my stamp and cardstock, which is Bristol Smooth cardstock. If you struggle with watercolouring I suggest you try Bristol Smooth, it will make it much easier for you as the paint sits on the paper a bit longer allowing you the time needed to paint or add colour.
2. I do the flowers first, whereas Jill did the leaves first. It is a matter of preference. For me the leaves and stems are easier, so it is flowers first. I use a light yellow as my base colour, on everything, leaves and flowers and lightly spritz with water, then stamp giving a soft outline of the stamp. I let the paint dry naturally.
3. I then add a second layer of a light pink shade along with a deeper pink shade to the flowers. Following is a picture showing this step. Mixing the yellow with the pinks gives this lovely shade.
4. I then coloured using the Crimson colour, dried and did a second stamping with the Crimson, with the picture below showing the results.
5. So happy with the colour here. After this I added my last colour to the flowers in a few spots as shadows using Redwood.
6. Again I let everything dry fully before moving on with the leaves. I used 3 colours on the leaves, first using the Sap Green and letting it dry. I then added the Hunter Green to the sides of the leaves and spritzed, then softened the edges with my paint brush and finally added bits of Asparagus with my paint brush. I did not colour the stamps but instead put the colour down on my craft surface picking it up with my brush and painting on the leaves.
7. I did some touch up work, then moved on to the butterfly. I used the Yellow, Carnation and Crimson for the Butterfly. Coloured the stamp with the yellow and spritzed, then let air dry. added light pink to the stamp, spritzed and let air dry. then added the Crimson with water outlining to the stamp and stamping and pulling out the colour with my damp paint brush. I removed the Butterfly from my Misti before adding the antenna and the abdomen so I drew them in with a black marker.
8. Finishes ~ To add the finishing touches I heat embossed the "SHE" part of the sentiment using Brutus Monroe Vintage Gold Embossing Powder, then added the rest of the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Green Oasis. Using my stencil and the grid on my Stay-tion I brushed on the Buttercup Ink to opposite corners of my card. I attached the piece to gold mirror cardstock, then to a base of Gina K Design base cardstock in Red Cherry.
Finally I added Midas Touch Shimmering Pen to the Butterfly and a few of the Dew Drops around the card.
