Tulips

I have something a bit different to share with you today. When Social Distancing came into place our Wednesday night Watercolour classes moved online. This is from this past Wednesday night, which I finally did today.

We start with a line drawing for a 5 by 7 picture, and when I finished I erased the lines. I can not draw, and don't want to add another thing to my plate, so I will keep with the line drawings.

I use Arches Cold Press 140lb watercolour paper for my classes along with Daniel Smith, Schmincke and Winsor Newton Watercolours.

This Tulip is meant to have some hard lines in it, which I quite like. To watercolour we used only a few colours, being Medium Cadmium Yellow, Medium Hookers Green for the background. For the Tulips Cadmium Yellow then Burnt Sienna highlights. For the leaves Hookers Green in one puddle with a second puddle of Hookers Green plus Burnt Umber and Ultramarine Blue. Use the lighter colour first and drop in the darker colour. And for the stems we used the leftover yellow, green and blue from our palette.

Thank you for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed this departure from my cards.
