Fresh Flowers

It has been awhile since I have water coloured, so I decided today would be a good day. I am using Penny Black Wings and Vases Stamp Set, along with their Layered Leaves Die and a sentiment from Waffle Flower.

To water colour I used my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens, using Mango Mimosa and Flamingo Pink from the Surprise Part set, Lemon Zest from Summer Holiday, Fresh Green from Spring Meadow and Spiced Ginger from Autumn Woodland.

Using Arches Cold Press 140lb water colour paper in my mini Misti I stamped the image using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne.

To start the flower colours I did a base using the Lemon Zest on the flowers and leaves. I then went in wet on wet with the Flamingo Pink for the bottom right flower. I then did the leaves, which gave the flower time to dry, using Fresh Green from the Spring Meadow Set.

To paint the vase I treated it like it was a crystal vase, painting with a watered down Lemon Zest, then dropped in watered down Flamingo Pink and Spiced Ginger. Once dry I added Glitter Gloss to the vase along with the centre of the flowers.

For the bottom left flower I added Mango Mimosa then wet on wet added Spiced Ginger, and then moved on to the top flower. I mixed the Flamingo Pink with the Mango Mimosa to get this pretty deep orange colour.

Once dry I did another layer with the colours I mentioned above and set aside to dry.

Using the Arches paper I die cut the leaf, then made a puddle of Fresh Green and Lemon Zest and dragged the die cut leaf through the puddle. As there is not a lot of paint on this die cut, it dries quickly.

To finish up I made my card base using the water colour paper and glued the Layered Leaf in place using Nuvo Adhesive. I styled the flowers slightly and attached using foam squares. I then added colour using the Nuvo Pen in Lemon Zest, direct to paper. In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment from Waffle Flower with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne, and added a few gems around the card to finish.

I am entering this card in the challenge over at the April 2020 CAS Watercolour Card Challenge, which is to use Spring Flowers.
