A Clean and Simple card to share with you today with Penny Black's butterfly from Wings and Vases.

This card is quick to make, with the most time consuming part was fussy cutting the butterfly. I did the background awhile back, so it was at the ready when I needed it, and today is the day.

The background is done with Distress Oxide inks in the Lavender colours and a bit of Stormy Sky on card stock.

In my mini Misti I stamped the butterfly and some of the flowers from the set using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.
For the water colouring today I am using Make Art inks Forget-me-Not, Violet and Bluebird. I put the colour down on my work surface and spritzed with water then painted using my #6 paint brush, first the butterfly then the flowers.

I then die cut the background piece using Spellbinders Hemstitch Circle die. Using Penny Back's Rows of Stitches I cut another piece of the background. The die has 3 rows of stitching, so I trimmed it down to two rows. I attached the Rows of Stitches piece to my card base, then attached the Hemstitch Circle using foam squares.
I styled the butterfly and affixed it to the circle using Nuvo Adhesive. To the butterfly I added Nuvo Shimmering Pen Midas Touch and added some to the exposed area of the circle die.

To finish up I stamped the sentiment which is from an older set by Penny Black called Sweet Wishes using VersaFine Clair in Paradise. Given the climate we are living in I thought this sentiment would work, even though it is meant for a birthday card. I then added a few gems.
I am entering this card in Freshly Made Sketches #432.

  1. I just love the colours you've used here Kia and isn't it satisfying to use a background you made previously! Also, I've fallen in love with little CC :)
