Fall Maple

An unusual colour combination for my card today. I know I will be doing traditional colour autumn cards, so today I wanted to do something a bit unusual.

I am using Neat and Tangled Maple Thanks Stamp and Die set, along with a sentiment from Frantic Stamper that comes with a larger die called Fall Harvest Panel. I am also using Tim Holtz' Woodgrain Embossing folder.
I cut two pieces of Ranger distress watercolour paper, spraying one piece with Tim Holtz Distress Resist Spray. Once dry I used Color Burst in Turquoise on the piece with the resist spray, and Lime Green on the other piece.
On the green piece I inked the edges using Broken China and Black Soot.  I then applied VersaMark ink on the raised portions and sprinkled with Perfect Pearls, and brushed off lightly, applying a fixative to the panel.
Using the turquoise piece I die cut the leaf, then stamped using Broken China Distress Oxide ink and heat embossed with Nuvo Shimmering Embossing Powder. On a few of the edges of the leaf I sponged on the Broken China and Black Soot distress ink, then attached the leaf to the panel on square foam pieces. I die cut 3 of the fall words and glued them together, then attached them to the panel. I then applied Wink of Stella to add a bit of sparkle.
I hope you have enjoyed this card today, and thank you for visting my blog.

  2. Hi Kia! I have not used the Color Burst before, but i just bought some! When you said that you applied the Lime Green Color Burst to the watercolor paper, did you mix it with water? Thanks! Love your cards and blog!! Lynn

  3. @Lynn Kirkpatrick ... I like to spritz my paper, then sprinkle on the colour. This way I have control over the amount and you can see the reaction straight away.

  4. Gorgeous nontraditional fall color card, Kia! Love that you used Black Soot for both the woodgrain panel and the maple leaf. It adds the depth to the pretty colors. Hideko xx
