BC Life

Meet "BC Life".

I was asked if I could make a card for a couple who were about to get engaged. They live in British Columbia, and as I previously lived there I had a good idea as to its beauty.
This couple have such an interesting life. They love the outdoors being avid hikers and canoeist and also enjoy the winter sports. So, the request was for a card matching their lifestyle.

I decided to create a scene using Penny Black stamps by first stamping the birches in the foreground, then masking the trees and stamping the mountains in the background.
For my piece I am using Arches cold press watercolour paper and decided to use distress inks to watercolour the images.

Blue Lagoon is the sky, with Hickory Smoke, Speckled Egg and Crackling Campfire on the mountain range. The birches have walnut stain applied lightly along with Hickory Smoke and bits of Cracking Campfire.
For the snow I used white bleed proof water colour, adding hickory smoke then cracking campfire for shadowing. I painted the heart in the tree using the crackling campfire and shadowed the range line with it as well.

To finish I stamped the sentiment using Ranger Archival Monarch Orange ink and die cut using a Frantic Stamper die, which I made to fit my card and sentiment.
I matted my piece with black card and added to a orange coloured card base, gluing with Nuvo Adhesive. I then added the stamped sentiment die cut piece using foam squares.
This is the finished inside with the twigs painted using the campfire, hickory smoke and walnut stain.

I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it for this couple.

Following are Affiliate links for the products I have used for this card, at no extra expense to you.
