Joy Tree

This is "Joy Tree".

I made this card for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. I was inspired by this photo of Christmas Trees.
To start this card, in my mimi Misti I first did a light inking, colouring with a Tombow marker. For the second layer I changed the stamp then continued using markers, but in a darker colour for the second tree from the  Farmhouse Tree Builder set.

I also stamped trees using the second stamp on either side of the card, one higher than the other.
With my paint brush I pulled out some of the extra ink from the stamped areas to add colour to the white space. Along the bottom area I painted using White Guoache and added a tad of the blue for the snow line.

I love the abstract look of the trees, which is what I was aiming for. Abstract is kind of my thing when it comes to watercolour, so when I see the opportunity I take advantage of it and I thought this tree had the perfect look for abstract.

Before continuing I allowed the piece to completely dry. I then added splatters using my Midas Touch Shimmering pen to apply, giving the gold splatters.

In my mini Misti I then stamped the Star, which is also from the Farmhouse Builders set, for the top of the tree along with stamping a swag that I am using inside the card, and die cut both out using the coordinating dies.

Putting the card together, I matted my tree piece using Recollections Blue cardstock. I then glued the piece in place using Art Glitter glue

Using Sizzix Script Holiday Words I die cut "Joy" using foam pop up Glitter foam sheets in white and glued the Joy in place again using the Art Glitter glue. I dotted the "i" with a Pinkfresh Gem in silver and blue.

I then attached the Star using foam squares and added Midas Touch shimmering pen to the centre of the Star.

Thanks so much for your visit today. I hope you have enjoyed this card.

See you next time.
