Poinsettia Christmas

This is "Poinsettia Christmas".

For awhile I have been thinking about using embossing paste on mirror and glitter cardstock, and today when I was looking through my Christmas paper I came across this lone piece of red mirror cardstock, so I gave it a go.
Using A Colorful Life Design stencil I applied Tim Holtz Grit-Paste in Opaque. As you can see, not so Opaque on mirror card, but I prefer this look as it does not over power the flower. Once the paste was applied I set it aside to dry overnight.

Using Neenah 110lb cardstock I die cut all the pieces for the flower. As I wanted a more "full" flower I double up on a few of the die cuts.
To add colour to the Poinsettia pieces I coloured using Copic markers. For the flower I used R59, R29 and R24, with the centre being Y17. The leaves are done in a mix of YG93, YG67 and YG17.

When I finished the colouring I then styled each of the flower pieces to add some movement to the card and to the flowers.
After waiting overnight for the background to dry, I was pleased with the results. I then glued the background in place on a Gina K Design Cherry Red cardbase.

To the centre of the card I started adding the flower pieces, layering as I went, and adding a bit more styling on some.
On the inside of the card I layered green and white cardstock, then attached the glitter die cut "Merry Christmas" in place.

I am happy with the results, and I hope you have enjoyed this card as well.

  1. Kia this is extremely clever and love your result. I have never tried this on mirri cardstock so it's an interesting card. x
