Joy Tweet

Meet the birds of "Joy Tweet".

It seems like ages since I have used a Penny Black stamp, alas here I am with "Feathered" by Penny Black.
For this card I decided to watercolour using Daniel Smith watercolours. I took inspiration from the House Finch, who has the beautiful red breast. The breast on the Finch is not as bright as mine, but this is after all a Christmas card.

I painted in the stripes created by the feathers on the breast using Van Dyke Brown. To that I added a mix of Goethite and Raw Umber.
For the breast and head I used Pyrrol Scarlett with a tiny bit of Alizarin Crimson mixed in. From the beak around the eye and outward I added in the more of the Van Dyke Brown.

The greenery was done using Jadite Genuine, and the berries were done using Crimson Alizarin, painting the berry to allow for the white highlight.
Along the snowline and to the top of the birds I painted with Neutral Tint, giving that chill appearance. Above the Neautral Tint I added in a watered down Jadite Genuine reflecting from the greenery.

To finish I stamped the Joy sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip.

To finish I attached foam tape to the back of my watercolour and adhered it to a piece of Gina K Design Cherry Red cardstock.
