Wonderful Friend

This is "Wonderful Friend".

I have little doubt that we all want to do something a little different to test our creative spirit. But fussy cutting an embossing folder impression was not high on my priority list. There is a whole lot of detail in that, but I did it anyway.

Needless to say I am happy I did the fussy cutting as I very much like the detail of the cut doily edges.

Then it was time to add some colour. I started out by only adding colour (twisted cirton) to the edge of the doily, but that did not fly, so I added distress oxide inks to all of the doily.

For a base I added the twisted citron to the entire doily. I then came in from the right edge and added colours like I would if I were doing a rainbow. First with salvage patina, then mowed lawn, rustic wilderness (lightly) followed by evergreen bough and ended with cracked pistachio.

Finishing for the embossed doily was done with splatters of inks in shades of blue and green along with white.

Moving on to the card base I added cracked pistachio to the area of the card showing at the bottom as I did not like the starkness of the white, then attached the doily using glue at the top and left edges and foam squares along the right side of the doily.

For the dragonflies, in my mini Misti using watercolour paper, I stamped using versamark embossing ink, then heat embossed using Nuvo embossing powder in Serenity Blue and die cut with the co-ordinating dies.

I then added a touch of watercolour to each of the dragonflies, one using blue and the other green.

To finish up I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Warm Breeze, then die cut it with the coordinating die, and attached it to the card using a foam strip.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

  1. Beautiful! Now I have ideas on how to use all the doilys I've accumulated.
