Christmas Penguins

Meet Christmas Penguins!

This stamp set is was on my desk asking me to use it, so I complied. After all, what could be faster than colouring up Penguins? Colouring them was fast, it was the rest of the card that was not.
To stamp I used Memento Ink as I was using Copic markers to colour. I did not do a lot of blending, hence did not use a lot of colours. C3 on the bellies of the Penguins, 100 and BV25 for the black areas. R8 and RV29 for the bow, with Y38 and YR04 on the feet, bill on both, and on the face and upper belly of the other. The snow is B00 and B01.

I then fussy cut the Penguins, keeping the snow portion. I wanted to do an alcohol ink background, but that puts me in the bathroom because of my bird. So I opted out of that and decided instead of a embossed background sponged with Broken China.
I used 100# Hammermill cardstock for the embossing, as I was going to glue this to a card base. I then added the Penguin image in place using foam tape.

The piece needed to be framed so I used my favourite die for this from Impression Obsession and cut three pieces of each, gluing them together and attaching them in the back with foam tape, then attaching to the card.
Behind the Penguins I wanted some sparkle, which does not show in the picture, but I did add Nuvo Glimmer Pen to the area before attaching the birds. I had it sitting on my desk after I took the pictures and it is so pretty when it catches the light coming in the window.

To finish up the details I added a die cut snowflake, along with some snowflake embellishments from Picket Fence Studios.
To finish off in my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using the Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black.

This was a lot of fun to make and these Penguins make me happy. I hope they make you happy as well.

  1. Kia, this card is gorgeous! Adorable penguins (of course!) and the frosty background is perfect. I agree - the frame sets it all off :)
