Few Little Birdies

Hello to you! I am up on the Scrap'n Stamp blog with this card today for the Random Act of Cardness. My word for today is "Flight" and a few things took flight during the making of this card.
For my card today I am using Dina Wakley Sbribbly Birds, and Scribbly Birds on Branch.  I also used an old die from Penny Black called Berry Branch and a stencil from Picket Fence called Funky Leaves, along with my Pierced rectangle die.

To start this card I first die cut my front panel of Fabriano hot press watercolour paper using the pierced rectangle die. I then placed the piece in my spray box and sprayed with distress oxide sprays in Abandon Coral, Wild Honey and Picked Raspberry and set it aside to dry.
In the meantime, in my mini Misti I stamped the birds I wanted to use on Fabriano hot press paper using Ranger Jet Black ink. To paint the birds I used Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Wild Honey, Barn Door,  Squeezed Lemonade, and Gathered Twigs. Once dry I fussy cut the birds and styled them to get them ready for my card front.

Going back to my card front I put the piece back in my box and placed my stencil on top. I started to spray with the resist spray, but it was clogged so I took the nozzle off and it was at this time that my bird CC decided she would be joining in the fun, and swooped down with the intent of landing on the box. In my panic I moved the box out of her path, but yes, the distress spray toppled over too, and we had resist spray everywhere.
I rescued the stencil and placed it in the water I had prepared, then mopped up my mess somewhat. I managed to keep the resist to the left bottom part of the card. I already had my Rose Quartz embossing powder open as I planned to use it, which I did on top of the spilled resist spray. I then could relax and clean up my mess before proceeding.

I heat embossed the powder, then using the stencil added more distress inks around the piece. So pretty it ended up being. To add more I spritzed the card front with a mixture of Sunflower Perfect Pearls. Yes, it is beautiful - I so wish it would show up in the pictures. You can see a bit of the spray around the sentiment, you just need to imagine the sparkle!
I then die cut the berry branch and put down some gathered twigs distress ink, spritzed with water and dragged the branch through the ink. Using my candied apple distress marker I coloured some of the berries, then cut the branch in two.

Using my stylist I styled the branches. I then attached the front piece to my card base, added the branches and the birds. In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment with the Jet Black ink and cut the sentiment in half, gluing it to the card front.
To finish I added a few pearls around the card. I hope you have enjoyed today's card, and thank you for your visit.

  1. Maybe CC was jealous of all the attention the paper birds were getting! ;) Your card is gorgeous, Kia; I love the sparkle and of course the beautiful colours
