Impression Obsession Old is New

Sometimes we get so busy with the newly released stamps that we forget about our old favourites. The Impression Obsession team has set aside a day this month to share some new projects using some great older stamps.

You can see the list of today's participants on the Impression Obsession Blog.

I know I say this every time I use an older stamp, but I love this stamp. I remember when it came out, I could not get to the IO site fast enough. Too cute!

To start my card I first did my background doing the smooshing technique using Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch, and set it aside to dry.

I then stamped the bird image using Memento ink and proceeded to colour using Copic markers in shades of blues and greens, except for the beak, which is in the orange category.

I added orange gel pen to the little flower spritzes that shoot out from the leaves, and also added it to the eyes of the birds.

I then ran the piece through my Scan'n Cut which was easier than fussy cutting. I did not want the white border however, so I coloured it with Copic in B01, a pale blue.

I then styled the birds using my stylist set, which caused the wings to flip up, albeit that does not really show in the picture. darn!

To finish off I matted the smooshed background piece with a darker blue card, then attached the piece to a turquoise card base. To the back of the birds I attached foam squares before attaching them to the card.

In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment, first in blue ink, then in black ink, which gives that blue/black finish. Love that look.

I hope you have enjoyed this card today, and wish to thank you for your visit. Following are Affiliate links for the products I used for this card, at no extra cost to you.

  1. Kia, I love these little birds, but when I tried your link it popped up with "not found." Love these pretty blues on your card!
