The Mask

This sentiment just cracks me up, and I could not wait to use it on a card.

Hello to you today, I am over on the Scrap'n Stamp blog with this card, talking about Backgrounds for cards, and this background in particular for our Random Act of Cardness, Day 10.

I have not used the Distress Oxide ink in Speckled Egg for a long time, so I thought I would use it for my background on this card. I brushed on using my life changing brushes, keeping the ink towards the center of the cardstock. 

The stencil shape I used I made from a Penny Black die and shiny side card from the mail. It is like a postcard but plastic and works great as a stencil. Using this piece I applied Distress Texture paste in a Mat finish keeping it inside the inked area and set it aside to dry.

For the sentiment I stamped on vellum paper using VersaFine Clair ink Sea Breeze, which is a pigment ink, hence allowing me to add clear embossing powder before the ink dried, then heat embossed with my heat gun.

From Neenah cardstock I die cut the masks, then coloured up with Copic markers, the lighter being BG32 and the darker being BG09. I used just the one colour on the smaller mask, and the darker plus the lighter colour on the larger mask, keeping the colouring simple.

Once the distress paste was dry I added the vellum sentiment, attaching by using Vellum tape. I then shaped the masks with my stylist and affixed to the card using foam squares, and added a sprinkling of sequins to finish off my card.

This card was so fun to make, and clearly I will be making more. I hope you have enjoyed it as well.
