Lavender Fields

It is time for Watercolour Wednesday over at Splitcoaststampers. I am hosting this challenge, How to Paint Lavender in Watercolour which is an abstract painting. This video, Lavender in Watercolour shows you how.

I found it to be a relaxing time while I painted my scene and one thing is for sure, I love the colours.

For this I used a variety of paints. Some Winsor Newton, Schmincke and Daniel Smith. The background for the top part is done with Daniel Smith Ultramarine Violet and the bottom is done with Schmincke May Green.

I added some Sap Green and Green Apatite to the bottom along with Winsor Newton Winsor Violet. I added in some Daniel Smith Opera Pink here and there.

I added salt along the top as it was drying, which gave some nice texture to the piece.

I think I should have done larger flower bits, but there will be a next time. It is always easier the second time around.
