My card for today's hop was a lot of fun to make, which I did Sunday past. I had so much fun, as one of my favourite things to do is get inky hands and use bright happy colours. For this card I am using Distress Oxide inks in Candied Apple, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet.

On the card base, which is Bristol cardstock, I applied these colours to the front of the card, adding a heavy amount of ink and blending with the first colour. i.e. the squeezed lemonade was blended with the Candied Apple and so on. I have noted the inks in the order I used them.

Once I was done with the sponging to my card I spritzed and added splatters of a mixture of water with Perfect Pearls, then set the piece aside to dry. It is far better to allow the card to dry naturally as it will form back to its shape without any distortion, which you would get from heat drying.

Moving on to the topper I die cut a piece of the Bristol card using my Hero Arts Birthday die. I kept the negative to work with.

On my work surface I put down Squeezed Lemonade oxide and spritzed with water. I then smooshed my card panel in the ink and let it dry naturally. The next colour I used was the Candied Apple, doing the same technique.

I then die cut the balloons, also from the Bristol card and put down more colours, then dragged my balloons through the colour, adding extra ink as the balloon required and set them aside to dry.

To put it all together I added foam tape to the back of the die cut piece, cutting the tape to fit, then attached it to my card front. I then added the balloons with foam squares that I placed in the negative parts. To finish up I added many gems and sequins in different colours and stamped the sentiments using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. I drew on the balloon strings.
