Cherry Blossoms

It is time for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers and today we are painting a cherry branch or two, in a loose style. I placed my branches in a jar, which is an idea that came from Pinterest.

I am using Arches 140# cold press watercolour paper along with Aura cardstock for my card base. My brushes are Escoda Reserva in a No 8 and No 4 round.

To watercolour I am using Daniel Smith watercolours. I did the flowers first using this bright beautiful pink which is Quinacridone Pink. I used it for the very light to the very dark pink.

Once the pink was dry I did the branches. I actually think they should be thicker, next time. For the branches I used Burnt Umber and Sepia.

The blue is Cobalt Blue with Indigo around the rings of the jar.

The flowers started out being almost white, but I did not like the look, so I added more colour. Light is not really my cup of tea unless for a sympathy card or get well card maybe.

I love the richness from the Quinacridone Pink, it pops beautifully and the Cobalt adds that extra bit of pop and richness.

Thank you for your visit today. I have listed the products I used for this painting in affiliate links below.
