Merry and Bright

Welcome to my bright Christmas greetings. I am very much in to using non-traditional colours for this Christmas. It has been such a bizarre year, Christmas is calling out to be recognized.

Making this card was a process that took some time, and patience.

I first stamped the snowflake using Ink on 3 Fadeout Ink, then added Daniel Smith Masking Fluid to some of the areas, as I wanted the watercolour paper to show in parts.

Using Arches Cold Press 140lb watercolour paper I started by stamping the snowflake using embossing ink, then applying embossing powder. But before heating I disturbed the embossing powder.

The reasoning is to have the snowflake take on some of the colours that I was doing for the background. I used a small stiff bristle brush to do my "disturbing".

I then heat the embossing powder and moved on to add the colours. I had the piece taped, using tape that only attaches itself to the card and not my work surface. I wanted to be able to move the piece around as I worked.

I wet the background then started dropping in the colours, as I smoothed some of the edges. For some texture I added Saran Wrap and set the piece aside to dry.

Once the first layer of colour was dry I again wet the paper and added more colour, then did a second Saran Wrap and again set it aside to dry, this time letting it sit overnight.

I did add a bit of tradition with the sentiment. I die cut two of the sentiments from watercolour paper, which is thick, so only two were needed. I then painted them with my Nuvo Aqua Flow Pen in Azure Blue, gluing them together with Nuvo Adhesive, then gluing to my card.
