Louder than words

I was checking our the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers earlier today and when I saw these leaves I was reminded of a line drawing I had.

I am not sure where I got the drawing from, but I liked the leaf. I had a reference photo with a similar leaf attached to the line drawing, which I probably printed off when I got the line drawing. The coloured leaf I have has a lot of orange and reds, but I wanted something that I could use now, so I kept to blues, greens, turquoise, a bit of orange and purple. Yes, the two later are used a lot in the fall, but that is okay.

I traced my leaf lightly to Arches 140lb cold press watercolour paper using Graphite paper. Using my watercolour palette I picked out my colours.

I kept the watercolouring lose, and tried to get some blooms happening. Funny, when I don't want them, they appear, when I do, they won't appear.

I worked dry to went for the leaf and kept in mind with some of the colours to not let them get too close as they would turn to mud. I leave a space between the colours and with a damp brush I paint in between, which allows the colours to creep quietly together, not meet up with a loud bang.

When I was finished with the watercolour I matted the piece with blue cardstock, and attached that to my white card base.

To finish in my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment which is from Altenew using VersaFine Clair Ink in Warm Breeze.
