Make Today Beautiful

I am up on the Scrap'n Stamp blog today with this card. If you have followed my work you know that I love colour, and the more vibrant the colour, the happier I am. In my neck of the woods it is a dull overcast day, so this card brings on the happy.
I started by stamping in black ink and heat embossing with clear embossing powder. I knew I wanted to water colour, and I knew I wanted a yellow base for my card. I was not sure about the top colour so I laid down a few, and I picked the two colours on the left, which are from my water colour palette. This can be done with any wet medium of your choice, including Zig Clean Color Pens.
The intense colour comes from the layering of the colours, starting with the yellow, going to the lighter orange and finally the darker orange. If necessary towards the end, I would again add in the yellow. And as you know, letting the colour dry completely between layers is key to your success.
Once I was done my flower and had it cut out, I moved on to my background. I die cut Ranger distress water colour paper using the new Blue Prints die, then did a wash in the yellow. When dry, I splattered with black acrylic paint.
I attached the Blue Print die to my card base, stampedthe sentiment in black and attached the flower using foam squares. I then stamped and cut the beautiful sentiment, going over the black with Wink of Stella.
I finished my card with some Nuvo Black Crystal Drops.
Thank you for joining me today.
