I have not had the opportunity to play in the colour challenge at Splitcoaststampers for a very long time, but today two things happened that changed that.
The first thing was I watched a video done by my friend Lydia of Understandblue called Graphite Transfer Paper Deboss, and I was smitten, I just had to try this technique. I then went to look at the colour challenge, which was perfect for this kind of card.
It is rare that I do mixed media cards, so I really got into this card, which I did for a male friend of mine. I like to give Valentine cards to the guy friends, but not romantic type, so this worked great. I started by die cutting my panel using my Birch Press die. I then did the embossing as per the video instructions. I then spritzed the panel with water and applied the water colours using Opera Pink, Scarlett Red, tilting the panel to let the paint move. I then dried and water coloured again going over the colours with Silver. I am loving the appearance of shimmer from the silver.
Once all was dry I framed the panel using red glitter card stock. I wanted a card base that also had a lot of texture to it, so I used a piece of Arches Cold Press Water Colour paper for my base.
I then splattered the entire card with red and pink acrylic paint. I stamped the sentiment on red card stock and heat embossed using white embossing powder.
The embossing folder I used is called Crafts Too Love Hearts, but it is very hard to find. I have linked below to another very similar embossing folder that would be perfect for this technique.
This was such a fun card to do, and a nice change. Thank you for visiting my blog today.
