A Tweet Hello

Being a bird lover and having a Cockatiel, I love anything birds, so when I saw this stamp set called A Tweet Hello from My Favorite Things, it was a must have.
I decided I wanted to do a whimsical type of card, mostly because I was going to draw my branch, and as my drawing is not top notch, it was best to make it whimsical. It all went relatively well until the bottom right branch ... but it is what it is.😉
I started with the top birds, stamping, heat embossing with clear embossing powder and painting with Zig brushes, then set them aside to do my panel.
I first drew my branch with pencil, then did a light was using Daniel Smith Manganese Blue for my background. Once that was dry I painted my branch with a mixture of Daniel Smith Venetian Red and Burnt Umber from Winsor Newton. I then arranged the birds where I would like them, and stamped another set of the birds, also giving them a quick go over with colour. I stamped in the leaves using Tim Holtz Twisted Citron at the top, and painted with the Citron and also added in Zig Light Green for some depth. I then stamped the flowers and painted with Zig brushes, and added a mid brown to the branch giving it more depth as well.
I added the matting to my panel and attached to my card base. I then styled and attached the birds on foam dots, then added Wink of Stella to the flowers along with the breasts of the birds. And to finish, I added Nuvo Jewel Drops in green for the flower centres, and pink drops in among the leaves.
I have made a video showing this process, and in the video I have a small offer to those who watch the video and comment here.
I hope you enjoy this whimsical card today.

  1. I already made a comment before I knew you were giving your card away, so I just wanted to say thank you for the video. It was wonderful, I think you did an awesome job with showing us all how you made your card. You made it look easy, but I know mine wouldn't come out like that! Lol I had commented in my e-mail when I first opened your email that your card was to die for! My mouth just dropped and I thought WOW!!! It stands out! It makes me want to take classes like you said you have been taking for 3 years. Awesomely done. Whoever your neighbor picks will be thrilled to receive it. Thanks for everything. :) Make it a great day!
