Meet "The Rose".
This is Altenews' "Rustic Rose". I have the stamp and die for this set, which I think has so much life to it that I had to get out my watercolours. First up was to stamp the background with one of the stamps found in the set using Pinkfresh Fresh Pear ink.
I then stamped the Rose using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne and began to watercolour the image. For my colours I am using Daniel Smith watercolours today.
I even painted the flower centre in Phthalo Yellow Green, most unusual for me. I used that colour on the leaf tips as well.
The rest of the leaves were done using shades of the same colour being Green Apelite Genuine. I added some Prussian Blue to my watercolour of greens to deepen the colour, which I then applied on the stem.
For the Rose I used Quinacridone Rose, watering it down a bit as I proceeded up the Rose ending with a very light rose colour.
I set the Rose aside to dry, then added foam tape to my Neenah card base. I placed in the piece minus the Rose, securing the paper. I then added the Rose to the foam tape piece that I had put down for it.
This adds a lot of depth to the Rose, even though it is all the same level. The Rose really makes itself known to the viewer.
I do not understand why the inside of the card does not show up like the front does - in any event I darkened it so the strands would show up!
Thank you for joining me today. I do hope you have enjoyed this Rose.
