Harvest Happiness

Meet "Harvest Happiness".

I have been absent from my craft room for a few days, tending to my little birds. A little Gouldian Finch was found in the hallway on the 7th floor by the cleaning lady, and she knew my bird had passed away, so she brought me the Gouldian.

After much research I knew I had to get him a friend. Finally I found him a male Canary and my friend Joyce and I picked the Canary up on Wednesday. The pretty Canary is named Sonnyboy and the little Gouldian is named Kiwi, and, they are so sweet.
So now you know what I have been up to. I am enjoying these two quite a bit, they are so busy.
But back to my card.
This card I have done for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. Stacy is our hostess and she has picked Urban Owl for our challenge. I picked this for my inspiration.

Using stencils from A Colorful Life Design I picked 3 of the leaves from the set to watercolour, which I did using distress inks.
I do not trace the leaves, instead I use a small watercolour brush, usually a size 4, and wet the brush, then apply it to the open stencil space. I make sure to not use a lot of water, this allows me to control the spread easily.

To add the colour I drop in small amounts of ink and spread it around, adding other colours depending on what I am doing.
Once the leaves were dry I added splatters using some of the colours I used in the leaves. On a separate piece of Arches card, in my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone.

To attach the sentiment to the card I used the larger foam squares. I then added a few enamel dots to the card in various colours.
It was a nice change to sit for a bit this morning to do this card. I hope you enjoy it as well.
