When It Snows

This is "When It Snows".

It is Day 22 of the Random Act of Cardness series and my prompt is Scenes. I pulled out my Penny Black stamps, as they are perfect stamps for creating awesome scenes.

I am wearing a Coral top today, and I see when photographing the card it has bounced off the window glass landing on the board. I love it, so I did not change it, I think it is fun.

I started this card with a piece of Fabriano Hot Press 140# paper which I trimmed to fit a card 4.5 x 6. Using my Original Misti I then stamped the Birch tree with VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne on a piece of photocopy paper and fussy cut out, then stamped it on the watercolour paper.

I covered the Birch up with the mask and stamped the background stamp using Distress Ink in Rustic Woodland, spritzing before stamping. For the Reeds I stamped first with Walnut Stain spritzed with water, then to ensure they were waterproof I went over the stamped images using a brown Sharpie Fine liner.

Adding to the scene I began to build up the colours for the trees, water, the sky and the snow area. For the sky I used Peacock Feathers distress ink, and for the water I used Chipped Sapphire and Broken China.

I then painted the snow using Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White, and while wet added in the Abandon Coral distress ink, which I also used to paint the heart in the Birch tree.

I let everything dry, then went back in and added more layers of colour.

Again I let everything dry so I could stamp the sentiment, which I did using the VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.

When all was perfectly dry I splattered the panel with white Gouache and a Perfect Pearls solution, making for a lot of snow and sparkle. I then glued the watercolour piece to black card and glued that to my Neenah card base.

I am pleased with how this turned out, and I hope you enjoy it as well. Below I have Affiliate links for the products I used for this card, at no extra cost to you.
