Morning Coffee

Good morning! Have you had your coffee yet?

I am up on the Scrap'n Stamp blog today with this card for the Random Act of Cardness we have. My keywords are Clean and Simple.

There are all kinds of interpretations for what is CAS. In my humble opinion, CAS for me is normally a one layer card, sometimes 2 layers when I use Copic markers.

This card was simple to make using the newly released Big Mug and Coffee Sayings both from Impression Obsession. along with a simple bit of stenciling behind the coffee cup, which is actually done using a red distress marker!

I first did the pattern on the mug via a gel print where I used my Gel Press 5 x 7 plate. Using Distress ink in Candied Apple I watered the ink down a bit, then using a fan brush splattered my gel plate with the ink, being sure to cover an area big enough for my mug and pulled the print. Love the look, and so simple.

I use Hammermill Premium Printer paper for my gel prints. It is beautiful paper for this, and for this mug I glued the paper to 100lb. cardstock and die cut it out.

Using the stencil I made the circles, not really paying much attention to their shape, using first a pale yellow marker, then a brown distress marker, picking different shapes from the stencil to use.

To put it all together, I stamped the sentiment on the mug using VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone and attached it over the stencil work using foam squares.
It shows better now, but I die cut the coffee from a brown piece of woodgrain cardstock, which makes it look like the coffee has just been stirred. I glued it to the mug following the line of the slit that is in the die.

I then added a few gel dots in brown that honestly look like navy blue. I was doing this before the light came up, I better check those!

Thank you for visiting today. I hope you have enjoyed this card.
