Hi Smiley Face!

 Hi to you all too!

It is that time when I share my card for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com. When I saw these coasters I knew immediately I was going to replicate a Smiley face.

I have a friend who's son is coming home for a visit. She has not seen him since before the pandemic. I know when he arrives her face will be a big smiley face, so I wanted to make this card to send her.I did not want a blank background so to add some texture I used a stencil from A Colorful Life Design along with some Crackle Texture Paste. I love that stuff, so easy to use.

To mimic the design on the coasters I used dies from Penny Black which have different patterns on each of the dies, equally spacing each of them on the yellow cardstock and ran them through my Gemini Jr. Using a Sharpie Permanent black marker I drew the "smile and eyes" again using the dies to trace. The smallest die has a small circle in the centre, which is what I used for the eyes.

I then die cut the sentiments, from black cardstock with the shadow for friend cut from vellum.
To put it all together I attached the Smiley Face using foam tape, then glued on the "Hi" sentiment. For the sentiment "friend" I cut some foam squares to a smaller size and attached them behind the "i" and the straight line of the "d", which hides them. I used glue on the tips of the flourish and "f" attaching to the Smiley face.

I finished by adding the small gumdrops in black.
Needless to say this was so fun to make and what really makes it fun is my friend will smile when she receives it. Hopefully she doesn't check my blog until after she receives it. I am hoping she will be too busy preparing.
