Lovely

Hello to you! It is a beautiful morning for us in Southern Ontario with lovely cool temperatures, hence my card called "Lovely".

This image by Penny Black is easy to love, with the detail it has. I decided I would use my watercolours, but of course, any ink pads or paints will work beautifully. And yes, you can use watercolour.

When I first started to paint my rubber stamps I found the paint did a slip slide away! I have read that some have success with just applying the paint to the stamp, but I have not. At least not to my liking. I use Ink on 3 Watermark ink mostly, or Versamark ink to give the paint something to attach to and have never had any problems doing it this way.

To start my card using Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper I painted the piece of card using the 2 colours of green and adding a bit of the turquoise once all was wet. I wanted everything going the same way as the vine, so did not alter the brush movement.

To paint my stamp I used Daniel Smith watercolours in Diopside Green, Phthalo Green (Yellow) and Ultramarine Turquoise. I painted areas then wiped the stamp and dried the card, and added more paint to the stamp spritzed and stamped and so on, until I was happy with the look.

At the end I added a bit more water with the addition of paint to get the watery look. I let the card dry before die cutting my sentiment from the painted card panel, then cut the the panel to fit the front of an A2 card, using Gina K Design card in Ivory.

Finishing the sentiment die I die cut 2 sentiments from black card and 2 from Fabriano card, gluing the 2 black together then the 2 watercolour, and finishing with glue the black sentiment to the Fabriano with the Fabriano on top. I then added the original die cut from the water coloured panel to finish the look. An yes, I glued in the little pieces except for the e and top of the o.

I very much like the outcome, and I hope you do as well. Thank you for taking the time to come and have a look.
