Missing you

I felt the need to paint a flower today, and when I went in search of a flower to use I came upon this stamp from Penny Black. I knew the colours I wanted to use and thought this flower would show them off nicely.

This is also my sample card for the Inspiration challenge at Splitcoaststampers today. We are visiting the Pinterest page of Hoate.com. I picked this pillow for inspiration.

First I did my background. I inked my embossing folder with Peeled Paint Oxide ink, spritzed with water and inserted a piece of Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper to emboss via my Gemini Jr. I then added some Daniel Smith Manganese Blue Hue along the sides and bottom of the piece in a light wash.

Next I stamped the flower in my mini Misti using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne and began to watercolour the flower in layers of Daniel Smith Manganese Blue Hug then Winsor Newton Winsor Violet, doing several layers of each and ending with the Manganese.

On the leaf I used Daniel Smith Green Apatite Genuine, Cascade Green and Manganese Blue, again in layers. I did the stem using the Green Apatite, and used Rhodonite Genuine and Winsor Violet on the small tag. I then fussy cut the flower as I did not want the ivory portion left from a die cut.

I attached the embossed panel using foam tape to a pretty blue card base. I am not sure how to best describe the colour, it is not navy, there is a royal blue color mixed with navy.

I styled the flower then attached it to the card front using foam squares. I then added splatter to the card using white watercolour and Perfect Pearls.

On a piece of white card stock in my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment, which is from Impression Obsession, using VersaFine Clair ink in Blue Belle, trimming it and adding to the card front using foam tape.

To finish I added a scattering of sequins using Nuvo adhesive.

I enjoyed making this card today and I hope you enjoy it as well. It was a nice change to paint a flower, even with 6 inches of snow outside.
