Falling Leaves

Fall is fast approaching for those of us living in Ontario Canada. It is by far my favourite time of year as I love the cooler temperatures and I adore the colours.

Today's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers took us to a site called Soft Surroundings, where I saw these dresses that I would love to have, but I will settle to use them for my inspiration.

It is the orange, which is actually in both and the teal that I love, and I love them together.

My card is Arches 140lb Cold Press watercolour paper and my stencil is from A Colorful Life Design and called Skeleton Leaf. To start I sprayed the back of my stencil using the Pixie Spray, as I would be watercolouring. This secures the stencil to the watercolour paper to ensure I get a good print with no bleed. I also used my Stay-tion to secure the stencil not on the card so it could not pull up from the paper.

Using my #8 brush I started adding the colours, starting with the lightest and moving to the darker, being the Amazonite Genuine. Once finished I removed the stencil then went back and added more colour to the areas and blended out.

As most of you know I wait for my watercolour to dry naturally, which I did here. Once dry I sprayed the card front with a mixture of Gold Perfect Pearls and water, and allowed that to dry. I then added splatters using my # 2 brush along with Carmine and Permanent Orange watercolour.

Again, once all was dry I place the card in my Misti and stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone. I did not want the harshness of the black ink which is why I decided on the brown.

To finish I added a scattering of sequins.
