You make me Smile

Over coffee this morning I was looking through my stencils and stopped at this stencil. I immediately thought of a mixed media type of card using Color Burst powders. So that is where I went.

Starting with Arches 140lb Cold Press water colour paper. I knew the color burst would seep through to the underside of the stencil with the amount of water I would be using, which was not a concern to me, but I did want to make sure that I left hints of the stencil on the panel, so I spritzed the stencil with bleach before laying it down on the water colour paper. (Please do this is a well ventilated area. I did it outside as this is a no-no when one has a bird.)

I first spritzed the sheet with water, then added the powders of Ultramarine Blue, Turquoise and Chartreuse. I used my heat gun to dry the panel, continuously moving the heat so as not to warp the stencil.

When I removed the stencil I was super happy to see the stencil lines, so my experiment worked. I'm always happily surprised when that happens.

Using Dr. Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White water colour I painted on the stencil marks. I picked up some of the background colour periodically adding the colour on the stencil marks to give it a rougher appearance.

Once the paint was dry I die cut my piece with my Wonky rectangle die, then attached it to fun foam with Sookwang tape/Scorpal tape. I then stamped and heat emboss my sentiment using white embossing powder on blue card stock and attached the the strip to my card with the Sookwang tape.

To finish off my card I added a few iridescent bubbles.
