Another whimsical card to share with you today. I am participating in today's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers where we visiting the ShutterStock site for our inspiration. I picked this image as my inspiration, making a few changes.
Despite loving the bokeh look, I did not want that on my card, I wanted more of a whimsical look. I first die cut my watercolour panel and in my Mini Misti I stamped my street light using Ranger Archival inks in Jet Black and Sepia. I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
I watercoloured with both Daniel Smith and Schmincke watercolours, using the colours I have listed below. I did a few layers of wash adding paint to build the colours as I went. I had masked off the area for the candle light to ensure I did not paint in that space. I let my panel dry naturally, something I usually do as I don't get nearly the warping caused by the heat and I feel the colours remain brighter.
Once the panel was dry, I painted in the whimsical branches using Burnt Umber and Payne's Gray. I then removed the masking and painted in the candle light. I then put the panel back in my Misti and stamped my sentiment using Ranger Archival in Sepia and proceeded to paint on the dots using acrylic paint. I also painted in the star like dots with white acrylic paint. I attached my panel to fun foam and attached to a Neenah card base. I then went over the entire panel with Distress Micro Glaze, giving it a beautiful shine.
I had a lot of fun making this card, and will send it out shortly and only hope that it arrives before Christmas. Funny how I get everyone's cards done, but am late on my own.
