Nature's Palette

I feel like I have been missing for a long time. Alas, I have been doing another card project for a customer that is rather large and took up most of my time. But today I was delighted to be able to make a couple of cards for my blog.
This is the first card I did using Penny Black's Into the Sky stamp, which I just love. I wanted it to appear in the background of the scene, like it was in the mist, so I stamped the branches first using Sepia ink, then did the sponging of the ink background. I did however, stamp the sentiment last.
I sponged using Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral. Once I was happy with that, I splattered with water, then splattered with brown watercolour paint in Madder Brown. I stamped the sentiment using Ranger Archival ink in Sepia.

For my second card I changed up the colours slightly, using Mustard Seed, Fozzilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon. I also die cut the panel, framed in brown and attached to a white card base.
I did the sponging first then stamped the branches using the Sepia ink. I then splattered with water only, and stamped the sentiment, changing up the verse a bit.
I am a huge fan of Ripe Persimmon, so I tend to like the card above a bit more, but I do like the added paint on the card above.

I hope you have enjoyed these cards and thank you for visiting my blog today.

  1. Gorgeous cards, these colours look so pretty together, I like both colour combinations and the subtle differences between stamping the branches before and after the inking, Cathy x

  2. Both cards are so beautiful, Kia! I love both color combinations. The sepia branches look fantastic against the fall sky. Spattering water and ink adds warmth to the scene.

  3. Kia, both of these cards are gorgeous, and I love the colors you've used and agree that Ripe Persimmon is a favorite of mine as well. It's a stunning blend with the branches, and I love both sentiments! Stunning cards, sweet friend! Hugs and love! xoxo
