A Note

I have not used this stamp set yet this summer, so it was time, and I wanted to play along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today.
I also have been wanting to do this kind of background for awhile. I have seen it done with sponging, but I wanted to do watercolour. I first did my stamping in my Misti, arranging the flower, stamping then masking before I did the next flower. I also masked the flowers before stamping the leaves, then had a hiccup with one of my flowers, but hey, it is handmade. I then took my card outside and sprayed the panel with Tim Holtz Distress Resist Spray.
I let the panel dry, which does not take long at all, then proceeded to watercolour. I tried to keep the colours vibrant by not adding any water to the colours, only water on my panel. I put the colours down on my work space so I had everything handy, and added the colour as I went. It is probably a figment of my imagination, but I believe that the colours remain brighter when I don't use heat to dry my panel. So I let each layer dry before applying the next layer. It is time consuming, but there is always something else to do.
Once I was happy with the look, I stamped my sentiment with white embossing powder on vellum, then die cut it using the same die as I did for the panel. I used vellum tape to adhere the vellum to my card front, and finished with a few sequins.
The sentiment shows up better in real life, so here is a close up showing the distress resist spray results and the sentiment close up.
Thank you for joining me today.

  1. This is beautiful!! I love this stamp set and I like how you stamped it on your card. The watercolor you did is just stunning!!

  2. Simply gorgeous card, Kia! The ink colors are soft and yet bright. I love the Distress Resist Spray effect. It adds so much interest. The vellum tape and the sequins are the perfect touch. Hideko xx
