Stencil Thoughts

This is my sample card for the Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers today whereby we asked for remembrance or sympathy cards due to this being Memorial Day in the USA.
I made this card yesterday when I was playing with stencil backgrounds and watercolour. I think this Large Flower Stencil from Hero Arts can be used in so many ways, making this a great stencil to have in your collection.
I use my Original Misti when I stencil. I find the bar magnets hold everything in place without the need of tape, which I readily admit drives me a bit crazy. I placed my stencil in my Misti using Fabriano Hot Press Watercolour paper, which I love for this type of technique. I sponged on the Blueprint Sketch, fading the ink towards the edges. With the stencil still in place and using my Escoda #6 paint brush I applied water to the sponged area, moving the ink, and in some cases applying more ink as I went. Once I was happy with the look, I painted the centre of the flower with my Zig Brush in Yellow. I did not apply any water to this area as the Zigs are already wet and I did not want to soften the yellow colour. The Blueprint Sketch has some wonderful undertones of colour, and I decided to pick up on the purple. I die cut my panel with my stitched rectangle die, and stamped the sentiment using Ranger Archival Ink in Majestic Violet. I then added foam tape to the back and attached to a deep purple card base. As this is a CAS card and a Thinking of You which could be sympathy, I kept it very clean, and by that I mean I did not add sequins 😉.
I hope you enjoy this card and wish to thank you for visiting my blog.
