Sunny Birdhouses

Hello to all. I hope this finds you all well.

This stamp set came in yesterday's mail and when I saw this set I just had to get to my desk and paint these sweet birdhouses. First, I stamped the image on Arches cold press 140lb watercolour card using Ranger Archival ink.

To watercolour I used both distress inks and my house palette that has a mix of Winsor Newton, Schmincke and Daniel Smith watercolours.

I started with the birdhouses using Antique Linen distress ink for the left one, Scattered Straw for the right one and Cracked Pistachio for the top one. The bird opening, shadow from the roof and the top fascia were all painted with Daniel Smith Burnt Sienna, except on the turquoise house where I used Phthalo Turquoise. The birdhouse posts were painted with Daniel Smith Venetian Red.

For the tulips on the left I used Picked Raspberry, along with Daniel Smith Quinacridone Pink. The leaves for all the flowers were done with either Distress ink in Crushed Olive or Daniel Smith Green Apatite. For the grass I used Schmincke May Green and for the background I used Schmincke Cobalt Blue Deep.

I used smaller brushes to paint this, a #6 for the birdhouses and background and a 2/0 for the flowers and posts. In the centre of some of the flowers I used gel pen in glitter green.

For the sentiment using my T-ruler I printed the "For You" using Micron Pen in black. I then added sequins by Studio Katia.

I matted with a light mauve along with a purple base to finish up this card.

I cannot tell you the fun I had painting this. This is the first time I have bought Craft Consortium stamps, and they are good quality and are from the UK. There are still 2 other stamps in this set that I have to paint, sooner rather than later!

I hope you have also enjoyed this card, and I thank you for your visit.
