Bloom with Grace

I had to do this card rather quickly unfortunately, but life gets in the way from time to time.  This is for Watercolour Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers where the challenge is Transparent Watercolour.

You can find the video for this challenge here, should you be interested.

My paper is Arches Watercolour 140lb cold press. I am using a #8 round brush, along with a #4 round.

While following a picture I drew out the flowers in pencil, with my eraser close by! I think I might have too much colour on the flowers but I was running our of time, so it is what it is.

You apply the colour, then wipe it off with a damp brush, removing most of the colour. For my blooms I am using Quinacridone Rose. The bloom edges were done with a small paint brush following the lines of the bloom. I liked it better with a bit of the colour brush from the edge towards the centre of the flower, so that is what I did.

For the leaves and stem I used Sap Green following the same technique, but not removing as much colour. I did at first remove more colour, and did not like it, so back to how I like it to look.

As I was working I went from one flower to another flower further away so as not to have any blooms forming. I did the same with the leaves.

Once all was dry I did the flower centres, dropping in some Hansa Yellow, then allowing that to dry. Then adding the stamens which are bigger than they should be. Ah well, this is what I get for rushing!

In my mini Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Green Oasis, then attached the panel to a dark green card base.
