Moo!

It's time for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, and this week we are visiting Watercolour Art Board.  When I came upon this picture I was reminded of a line drawing that I still had not painted from a Watercolour Class pre pandemic. I knew where it was, but I have a lot of watercolour stuff in the same place!

I decided I would have a little bit of fun with my painting, but not so much that you would not know this was a cow.

Using the line drawing I traced the details to a 5.25 inch square Arches cold press watercolour card. I taped off the edges to secure the card.

For my black I mixed together Burnt Umber and Indanthrone Blue until I had a good black. I mixed enough of the colour so I could paint all the places it was required with three coats. I do this as I then don't have to worry about getting the same colour each time I do a mix.

Once I was finished with the black areas I added the white components, i.e. around the eyes and the whiskers along with the beef snout area. I also added in some Ultramarine Violet between the nostrils and a Transparent Orange on each side, then Burnt Sienna at the bottom.

I added in yellows for highlighting and along my pencil lines. The additions of the yellows, orange and violet I think gives him some character all his own, and that is what I wanted. I hope you think it is fun too.

For my sentiment I used a single word, befitting a cow I think .... Moo! lol It really means "Hey". Great to send to a friend I think, and yes I do have someone in mind.

I finished up by attaching foam tape to the back of the watercolour panel and affixing it to black cardstock. Nothing more was required.

I hope you have had a giggle over Mr. Cow and I thank you for your visit. Following are Affiliate links for the products that I used for this card, at no extra cost to you.
